First Edition - 2016

A World Without a Gag (from now on UMSM) In 2016, he organized the first edition of The Right Cut, which sought to empower participants to exploit their artistic talent and, through a short film, they could give voice to any violation of the free exercise of rights or even to the same human dignity, generating stories that will awaken the sensitivity and support towards these cases.

In this first contest, the organization consolidated different alliances between various organizations and institutions at national and international level, such as: Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, Harvard University’s David Rockefeller Center for Latin America Studies, Ambulante Documentary Festival, among others. The winning short film for this edition was “La Tumba”, a Venezuelan independent short film made by María Eugenia Morón and acted by Franklin Virgües. María Eugenia had the opportunity to go to Harvard University to show the video and sensitize people to how people who were ideological dissidents of the national government were being violated in the country.
